U3 (Rise and Shine)
U3 RISE & SHINE ACADEMY: OUTDOOR 2023
For players born in 2020 & 2021.
Philosophy: "Learn to Move!"
The SPDSA Rise & Shine Soccer Academy is designed to get young children involved in sport with a bit of a soccer focus! The main goal of the program is to develop fundamental movement patterns to develop physical literacy using age-appropriate and imaginative coaching techniques and to teach players the importance of following instructions and being active.
Coaching
One weekly session will be led by a Technical Coach from the SPDSA Technical Department. Parent/Volunteer Activity Leaders may be appointed for the season to help/receive mentorship for future coaching. Activity Leaders will need to submit a valid Criminal Record Check (current within three years).
The best qualities of an activity leader for this age player are:
- Patience
- Good Humor
- A willingness to see the world through a child's eyes and speak their language.
- The ability to accept that children's play will not look at all like soccer.
Program Structure
Children will participate in stimulating activities that introduce them to fundamental movement and physical literacy (running, jumping, hopping, bending, catching) as well as basic soccer skills (dribbling, running) through a variety of fun games, activities, and obstacles. Parent participation is a requirement.
The Season
Season Length: Seven (7) weeks starting May 6, 2023, and ending June 24, 2023 (dates may be subject to change).
Each session will be 45 minutes: four (4) activities of 10 minutes each.
Day of Play: Saturday mornings at 9:00 am in Sherwood Park. (Field location to be determined.)
Registration and Fees
Regular rate is $75 until March 24, 2023.
Fee includes a t-shirt (players are required to provide appropriate footwear).
