About Us - Phoenix FC

Jul. 15, 2024

Welcome to Phoenix FC!

We've proudly been Sherwood Park's Soccer Association since 1976! In that time, we've involved the residents of our community as players, coaches, fans, and more!

We believe in the power of positivity, and the joy that comes through the process of discovery and human development. All of our programs are built with these core tenets in mind...

Our 4 Pillars of Coaching:

  1. Players Experience FUN by working hard & trying their best,
  2. Players connecting through Positive Team Spirit (doing things together, "igniting the furnace of human connection"),
  3. Players demonstrating growth through Positive Coaching, and
  4. Increased Player commitment through frequent Learning and Improvement.

Our Program Offerings:

Boys & Girls Grassroots Recreational (U3-U11)

In our Grassroots Recreational Program, young players are introduced to the joy of soccer and our Phoenix FC community. Designed for those stepping onto the field for the first time, or returning players, our program focuses on helping children discover a love for learning, sport, and teamwork. Within a nurturing and supportive environment, players grow into themselves, develop their skills, and build confidence. As they progress, they forge strong friendships and gain valuable life lessons that will guide them on their journey. This program lays the foundation for future pathways into Grassroots Competitive, Youth Recreational, or Youth Competitive programs. Join us as we embark on this exciting adventure of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Boys & Girls Youth Recreational (U13-U19)

In our Youth Recreational Program, every player, whether stepping onto the field for the first time or continuing a journey they've loved for years, finds a place to grow and have fun. Here, within the supportive and vibrant community of Sherwood Park, players experience the joy of soccer while competing in a sportsmanlike way. Our program emphasizes teamwork, support, and encouragement, helping players develop their skills and love for the game in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Join us as we create lasting memories, build strong friendships, and celebrate every victory, big or small, on and off the field.

Boys & Girls Grassroots Competitive (U8-U11)

Welcome to our Competitive Grassroots Program for U8 to U11 players! This is your entry into the thrilling world of competitive soccer and EMSA (Edmonton Minor Soccer Association). Our program is designed to inspire and excite young athletes who are eager to develop their skills and embrace the competitive spirit. With a focus on growth, teamwork, and continual learning, we encourage brave players who are unafraid of making mistakes and are committed to supporting each other on and off the field. Join us in this exciting journey and discover the joy of soccer at a higher level of play!

Boys & Girls Youth Competitive (U12-U19)

In the Phoenix FC Competitive Youth Program (U12 to U19), experienced young athletes elevate their game to new heights! Our program is designed for brave players who live and breathe soccer, unafraid of mistakes and dedicated to continual learning. Here, inspiring training and thrilling competition combine with teamwork, support, and encouragement as the foundation of our community. Together, we strive for excellence on and off the field, pushing boundaries, achieving personal and team goals, and creating unforgettable memories. Join us on this exciting journey, where every match is a step towards greatness, and every practice is an opportunity to shine.

Drop-In Clubhouse Program:

Phoenix FC Clubhouse is a free drop-in program that aims at giving players and their parents an opportunity to experience free-play, connect with Phoenix FC members and staff in an active community! Encourage creativity through use of field equipment such as cones, hurdles, mannequins and more!

The best learning happens when you're having fun and being challenged! Get in a game, practice your skills, make new friends! If you're looking to work on a specific skill, or need a partner, our coaches and office staff are more than happy to put on our cleats and lend a hand!

Please Note: Clubhouse is not a staff-supervised program. Players aged 11 and under need to be supervised by a responsible person aged 14 years or older. Please complete our sign-in/sign-out forms so we can contact parents/guardians in case of emergency. Please refrain from foul language, abuse and bullying will not be tolerated. Remember - we all play for Phoenix!
